ROME 64 C.E.
music by Nergal
it was during the reign ov Nero Claudius Caesar (37-68 C.E.) that the first documented case ov imperially-supervised persecution ov the christians in the Roman Empire began. in 64 C.E. the great fire broke out in Rome that devastated large portions ov the city and economically ruined the capitol. Nero accusing christians for this massive act ov arson successfully capitalized on the already-existing public suspicion ov this religious sect. according to Tacitus, different forms ov execution used by the Romans included systematic murder, crucifixion, and the feeding ov christians to lions and other wild beasts. as this idea sprang to mind for the main theme I sensed it was to become something big. I couldn't resist the imperial vibe coursing through the mere few chords and military drum arrangement. once we completed the piece I was already certain that this was our instrumental opener. bearing the album title in mind I thought it would require a b ideological background to perfectly envisage the whole album concept.
